IOP’s Compelling Audio: Election 2016
While working, I’m listening to some of the Harvard IOP 2016 presidential roundup in the background. The audio was embargoed until last night and there are some news stories up last night and this morning about the two-day conference.
The opening session consultant segment was pretty good – stuff we all kinda already knew.
About 15-20 minutes into The Media and Election 2016 segment, Jeff Zucker of CNN defends his network’s coverage of Donald Trump, saying that he was the only candidate who responded to requests to come on the air. Zucker calls out Rubio who walked off an interview and then fundraised off the walk-off and Bush, too, who repeatedly refused to appear on the air. Trump, however, called in whenever he was asked, Zucker noted.
Campaign consultants in the audience for some of the GOP candidates that lost in the primary began yelling at him. Zucker, however, defended himself and told them to look in the mirror – their candidates refused to appear on the air.
It’s really compelling audio.
Here is the general election audio. Can you say, fireworks!
